Not all love stories lead to happy ending. And we face this everyday. The right shade of pink, the rigth width of a stripe, the correct washing temperature of a polo - it's the details that lead to these rejections.

Swipe Left: What This Taught Us About Rejection
If you've ever spent an evening on a dating app, you know the rhythm. Swipe left. Swipe left. Maybe. Left again. Most profiles don't make it past the first glance, and the few that do often fizzle out after a couple of messages.
It sounds cruel. But the truth is, we do exactly the same thing with fabric swatches in our workshop..
The first swipe
Before a single Armisto sweater reaches you, we go through dozens of swatches. Small squares of knit, each one a possible match. Some get rejected in seconds. The colour is off. The yarn feels scratchy against the wrist. The knit looks lovely in the photo but flat in person.
That's the swatch equivalent of a profile picture that doesn't quite sit right. No hard feelings. It's just not the one.
The first date
The swatches that survive the first look go on a first date. We wash them, stretch them, rub them, and wear them against our skin for a day. This is where a lot of promising matches fall apart.
One gorgeous merino blend pilled after a single wash. Another held its colour beautifully but lost its shape the moment it got wet. On paper, they ticked every box. In real life, they didn't show up the way they promised.
Sound familiar?
Rejection isn't failure
On dating apps, rejection can sting. It's easy to read every unanswered message as a verdict on your worth. But a "no" usually says more about fit than about value. Two good things can simply be wrong for each other.
Swatches taught us the same lesson. A fabric we turn down for a winter cardigan might be perfect for a lightweight summer knit. The rejection isn't about the fabric being bad. It's about it not being right for this piece, this season, this person.
And every "no" sharpens the "yes." Each rejected swatch tells us more about what we actually want: softness that lasts, colour that stays true, a drape that moves with you. By the time we find the right one, we know exactly why it works.
Holding out for the right match
The people who seem happiest on dating apps aren't the ones who match with everyone. They're the ones who know what they're looking for and are willing to wait for it.
That's how we approach every collection. We'd rather reject fifty swatches than settle for one that looks good today and lets you down next winter.
So the next time you pull on an Armisto knit and it just feels right, remember the long line of swatches that got swiped left to get you there. Rejection did its job.
It found you a keeper.
